Nick Murphy Revisits Chet Faker Project After 4 YEARS with His New Single "Low"

Australian singer & songwriter Nick Murphy has revived his Chet Faker project after 4 whole years with his new single “Low.” Yup, you heard that right. Chet Faker is BACK. Nick Murphy is an artist that I will always love and respect. He is a raw talent and I’m always excited to see what he brings to the table next. It wasn’t until I saw him live at Taos Vortex (a music festival put on by Meow Wolf) in 2019 that I became a true fan. Watching him perform was a surreal experience and I was mind blown by his artistry. I think that performance made we want to smile, cry, and dance all at the same time - It’s something I’ll never forget. Murphy released music under the alias of Chet Faker from 2012 to 2016. In September of 2016, Murphy posted on his Facebook page "It's been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since. There's an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where it's going. The next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy. Chet Faker will always be a part of the music. This is next." Since releasing under his real name, his music has definitely been more intimate, instrumental, and emotional. Definitely a different vibe than Chet Faker but still the same talent.

“Low” is the perfect single to revive Chet Faker because it’s a good middle ground between the two projects. While still raw and emotional, the layers of instruments add that Chet Faker spunk we all know and love. It's also his first release while being signed to BMG Australia & New Zealand. This song shows it’s alright to feel a little down sometimes because it’s only temporary and life will go on. You WILL find your purpose and you WILL heal. I think we can all definitely take something from that right now.
