The live music and events industry is one of the hardest to be hit during the shutdown, being the first to close and likely will be one of the last sectors allowed to return to “normal” operations, probably including new, strict health and safety regulations. Many live event platforms are trying to help as we see local venues being financially impacted, as well as some even shutting down for good.

A few months into the quarantine, our hearts broke here in San Diego when we witnessed Blonde Bar get hit in the hardest way possible and was forced to close their doors (famous to Techno Tuesday lovers) forever… This crisis isn’t happening locally, or even nationally, it's happening to independent venues INTERNATIONALLY. Thousands of independent venues not backed by the power of a large promoter, such as AEG or Live Nation, are fighting for survival. This is why the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) started #SaveOurStages. The goal of this movement that NIVA started is to help raise awareness to your local legislators about the importance of our industry and to pass the Restart Act (aka the Save Our Stages Act).

One of the many ways you can be a part of this movement is by sending a email and tweet to your state’s legislators. You can do this easily through the Save Our Stages website here by just filling out a little bit of info about yourself and then using the pre-made or customizing the message to your representatives. It takes less than two minutes to use the recommended message that NIVA has pre-written!

Additionally, many of your favorite local venues that are in need of help already have a link for donations or a way that you can buy merch. If you have the ability to show support that way make sure to reach out to them via social media or email and find out how you can share the fam love :)
