The Festival I Miss the Most

So there’s all this talk of missing festivals and live events during this time, but which cancellation — or postponement — truly hurt the most? What event should you look to buy tickets to when the world (one day) opens back up?
Well, if you know me, you know that one of my favorite festivals is Lightning in a Bottle Arts & Music Festival (LIB). Notice that ‘arts’ comes before ‘music’ in the title, that's because the experience is so much more than just a music festival, it’s a visual and spiritual festival as well. Many LIB lovers will tell you that with this festival, it isn’t about the lineup, it’s about the ~vibes~. In fact, I go every year knowing few artists and have no schedule, but leave with a long list of new favorites and a lot of memories. This is the festival that truly is the start of my summer and sets the tone for the rest of my year. I know that sounds like a bit of an exaggeration, but I genuinely feel somewhat lost without being able to attend LIB in 2020.
It’s one of the few festivals where you can really be whoever (or whatever) you want. I know many people say that about other festivals, and I always thought that about festivals in general… This was until I attended my first LIB, where the feeling of genuine acceptance was UNPARALLELED. People come from all walks of life, it isn’t just the happy “I love everyone” type of festival. It’s the weirdest and the wackiest in the most wonderful way. That being said, I have to say that I believe this festival is not for everyone. You will indeed leave feeling grimey AF and you have to be ready for it. The past LIB’s I’ve attended, my crew and I found ourselves bathing in a lake for all 4 days. But that’s just how it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sadly, Lightning in a Bottle is struggling with financial hardships due to COVID-19. It’s one of the few family run fests now bought out by a large corporation such as AEG Live or Live Nation. If you’d like to donate to save LIB, you can find their GoFundMe Here.
