Watch Meow Wolf Change the World of Creativity

Meow Wolf is an arts and entertainment company that is known for their production of large-scale art installations and unique art+music festivals. Everything about Meow Wolf’s beginning is so genuine and raw, and I feel like a lot of us can resonate with that. I, especially, have become infatuated with the company ever since I volunteered at their Taos Vortex Music Festival and saw just how perfectly ~weird~ they were. They started in 2008 as just a young group of friends that loved art but didn’t conform to the societal norms of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The group later decided to rent out a warehouse together to host their own art shows and underground parties on THEIR terms. Now, that’s badass. Since then, they have turned the heads of people all around the world and have steered the way for small collectives much like Family Reunion!

Meow Wolf is changing how we think about art in the best ways possible. We are DONE with predictable, cookie cutter content. It’s time we evolve and ask ourselves, how can we create the unthinkable? And that is exactly what Meow Wolf is doing. I think Meow Wolf’s mission scares a lot of people because it’s something that we aren’t used to. We fear unpredictability when in fact, that is what TRUE art is. This is the type of company that we need to be supporting! 

What really put Meow Wolf on the map is their interactive art museum The House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe, New Mexico. When I say this place is out of this world, I MEAN IT. It’s one of those things where pictures just don’t do it justice because you really have to experience it yourself. You walk through different rooms, not one the same as another, that blow your mind and transport you out of this world. 

They are currently working on a project in Las Vegas, Nevada known as the Omega Mart which will be housed in a new “retail” mall called Area 15. This entire mall will be packed with different immersive experiences. If successful (and I’m confident it will be) they will be a serious game changer that will be built in other areas around the world. The Omega Mart will not be any ordinary supermarket… It will instead include different bizarre art installations that question capitalism and consumerism. And that is what makes Meow Wolf so damn cool. They are telling a narrative through their art. The pandemic definitely put a halt to their opening date however, they just received a 10 million dollar payment protection program loan to continue their work. 

If you haven’t already heard of Meow Wolf, then I’m telling you right now you’ve got to check them out. They are on the rise and who knows just how much they will accomplish in the next 5 years. I am beyond excited to continue watching this company blossom and inspire creatives!
